I am delighted to announce the launch of the Gheel’s 3 year Strategy. To ensure Gheel’s continued success into the future our strategy was developed following feedback from staff, the people we support, their families and external stakeholders. It reaffirms confidence to the people we support, their families and the HSE that they have made the right choice in choosing us as a provider and that they are engaging with an ambitious, innovative and progressive focused service that is Fast, Flexible, Focused, Friendly and Fun. The strategy recognises that the world of autism is constantly changing and we in Gheel need to continue to be at the forefront of this change with a vision of what that future can be.
The strategy outlines Gheel’s vision of “inclusive communities where people with autism are valued and have meaningful opportunities to design their own future in Ireland”. Focusing on building capacity in local communities where happiness and well-being are a desired outcome for the people we support (neuroharmony) and building on the move from a clinical and medical approach of happiness (lack of distress) (neurodiversity) towards a shared and positive focus (we all want to be happy). In other words: let’s move from neurodiversity to neuroharmony supported in autism inclusive communities.
I would encourage you to take time to read the strategy and I know like me you will be enthused and excited by Gheel’s future direction. Click here to download.
