Gheel has been selected alongside 9 other organisations to roll out the Physical Activity Education Programme in 2020. This programme is for people with disabilities with a targeted delivery through adult day care services. Developed in partnership with the HSE, Cara (Sport Inclusion Ireland) and Sport Ireland, the aim of the programme is to increase the knowledge and understanding of people with disabilities on the importance and benefits of being physically active and the opportunities that are available to participate within their local community.
Emma and Asa, 2 enthusiastic staff members have put themselves forward to take part in a 2 day training programme which will enable them to deliver the 6-week programme within Gheel.
We are very excited to be part of this project as we are big advocates for the importance of sports and physical activity for health and well-being.
Keep an eye out for updates on how the project is going in the coming months.
